Oh yeah. Well...if you know anyone who plays any games in the NJ/NYC area, let me know.

I'm trying to broaden my horizon, you know?

Games are drugs. I've known it before but... couldn't understand. ( http://game-era.com/feature/id/2 ) This is sad truth...

i have gamed at friends house with vasious systems and.. well, games. ive found myself frequently bored and decided i wanted to pick up playing video games.
i really dont know what system i should get though..
i want soemthing pretty inexpensive (in general so the controllers and games and memory packs and such are fairly low) so if i end up not using it too much, i wont have blown my small bank on it..
but i do want something that works well- and has a variety of games.. i was going to look at old school nintendo 64 but than i figured with the graphics in the old mario games (which rule, in my opinion) well i figured with that there wouldnt be too much else to do with it.

and then i figured 'what do i know' so i decided to get help.. what game system and games so you recomend?

your advice is greatly appreciated!comment.

Munchkin Madness
Hi there!

Terribly sorry to bother you guys with this, but we just created a community for the card game Munchkin, and since this community has 'munchkin' listed as interest we were hoping you'd be interested in our community as well. That is, if you meant the card game when adding that interest, ha ha.

Basically, we'll be talking about news, strategies, questions regarding rules, tips, and possible meetings to play. We started out with a group of friends who adore the game, but hope to grow and become larger in time.

Would you like to take a look and consider joining munchkin_sjgame? Thank you! :)

Love, Cherry.

Marvel and DC vs ... and something about Origins as well
I've gotten myself into another card game. Marvel anad DC. It's a great game and although very expensive, i'm still having a good time playing. Anyone out there play? What decks do you have? Currently I have a few: sentinels, league of assassins, arkham inmates, and x-men. I think the best one is the Arkham inmates and the most fun would be the sentinels due to the abundance of army cards (which means you can have more than 4 in your deck).

OOoh yeeah and I forgot to mention that last night I played Munchkin for the first time. Isn't that sad? I'm a 23 year old gamer and haven't ever played munchkin. Someone please put me out of my misery, i'm so embarrassed...ok, not really. Ironically, I played it while narrating a vampire LARP. I was in game, playing munchkin. Strange.

Enough babbling. I have a sandwich waiting for me.

hi, my name is melanie and i live in oklahoma (not FROM oklahoma, it's just where i happen to live right now because the gaming is better than in humboldt county (northern california) believe it or not)
i've been playing regularly for a few years and off and on since high school. i've been running in a world of my own creation since late last year in preparation for turning the world into the background of a book that i'd like to write.
there's really not much else than that that i can think of right now. i'm looking for other gamers elsewhere to make contact with, so "HI!"

Guess I'll blow an Etiquette trait and...
...introduce myself!

My name is Todd, and I live in the Cincinnati, Ohio area of the States. I just got into LARPing, but I've been a White Wolf fan for aeons. Mostly Mage, though I run a damn cool Tzimisce in Dark Ages in the LARP I'm in, I like to roleplay for days on end.

I first started in AD&D, where I created my very first character. Cayr, a Fighter/Mage whom eventually evolved into one of my greatest creations, began my roleplaying foray and has since guided me as I went from RIFTS, to Mage, and now to Vampire and even (eventually) BTVS.

So... let's make some noise!

Hello, I thought I'd introduce myself. I've been gaming for 14 years now. I seem to have a small curse on me, however: most RPG games I run die quickly, and most trading card games I play I either lose interest in or get cancelled. I've tried playing LARP games, but I often suck at them for various reasons.

Right now, I'm in a few RPGs with some friends: L5R (using the AEG rule system), Werewolf/Shifters Dark Age, Star Trek (using the Last Unicorn Games rule system), and possibly Fantasy HERO. I also like playing Exalted, BESM, Rolemaster, GURPS, and some d20.

Yes yes I admit I caved. I never ever thought i'd become involved in the world of MTG. I thought I'd never be one of those people...until today. Apparently some new set came out last Friday and the people i've been hanging out with love magic and play all the time. I've only played magic a handful of times, but today since it was sooo hot a friend of mine and I went to the mall and he purchased me a premade deck of 5th Dawn black and blue. After playing a few times, we went back to the store and he agreed to purchase me some cheapo commons. Great. (sarcasm) Now I get to try to tweek the deck and play. Hopefully I won't be enticed into playing it only because I really don't have the disposable income to start.

What about you all? Do you enjoy magic? What colors are your decks?

when i'm bored
Sometimes I think there's really something wrong with me. I sit down from time to time and make characters. Not just number crunching, though...I do a whole character history.

Other times I think to myself that I should create a world. Not an actual world, but something similar to middle earth. Have an RPG that takes place in this world...but then lines get all blurry and I'm suddenly stricken with this compulsion to make an entirely new RPG -- something I really don't have the time or attention span to do. Sooo instead, I think of cities I know well, and start to write plot. Then somewhere along the line i'll have a tabletop game that takes place in this city. Go me. I'm such a loser.

Now if you'll excuse me, i have some orc miniatures to be painting. If I knew how to post pics on lj, I would. If someone would be so kind as to show me, i'd give them extra exp...but alas we're not in a GAME so just show it to me, bitches!

Somewhere along the lines of this post i realized I'm just posting to myself and then decided it would be in my best interest if I acted as strange as possible. Some of you might just think I'm a schitzo...but no, i'm just strange. Not clinically, though.

What's your favorite videogame?
What's your favorite RPG?
What book are you reading now?
What's your favorite book?
What's in YOUR wallet?

Breaking the ice
I've been gaming for nearly 6 years now. I know to most of you that makes me a novice. You've all been playing D&D since before there was dirt on the ground or something. I've been playing D&D since 3rd ed came out. I've played Magic a few times back in 1997 but never collected any cards. If I had, knowing the pack rat I am, I'd have mox this and mox that and wouldn't have to worry about paying the rent this month because I just sold some of my alpha magic cards on ebay. Mostly, I've been LARPing. Unfortunately i'm most experienced in Mind's Eye Theater. I enjoy vampire LARPs as well as tabletop. They both have their pros and cons...major cons being that you're isolated from the world for hours upon hours at a time.

I also enjoy drinking and smoking.
I like videogames. I have all three systems, PS2, XBox, and Gamecube. The cube isn't all that impressive compared to the awesome (yes, I said awesome) power of the box.

As of a few months ago, I was a storyteller in one Vampire LARP...but I stopped due to personal problems. I run a vampire tabletop, and am a narrator in another vampire LARP.

I do also enjoy D&D and other games. I play 40k and Fantasy. My 40k army consists of tyranids. I painted them myself. 'eavy Metal scheme except they're primed black instead of white or bubonic.

In any case, I'm from Sunderland, MA. I'm originally from Korea. I'm adopted and grew up in NJ with an Italian mother and Jewish father. I went to Mount Holyoke College and graduated in 2003 with a degree in both biology and music. I am female. Whoa, a female gamer. I'm cute too. Whoa, an attractive female gamer? I am moving back to NJ sometime within the next few months because there is SHIT here for work. Fortunately there are lots of gaming stores here. There's lots of gamers here too. Unfortunately when you get closer to a metropolitan area, there's lots more to do which means there are significantly fewer individuals who take pleasure in sitting in a dark, dank basement rolling dice with each other. I find that disappointing slightly. Although it's good to get out once in a while, a hobby i've been working at for almost 6 years is going to flush away when I move.

Ok, I gave you MORE THAN EHOUGH TO WORK WITH. Start your talking. I give you permission to disagree with me. Anyone can disagree with anyone. It's the language, the attitude, and insults that I have no tolerance for.

So...join and write!
